The vast area that this storm encompassed exceeded everything this veteran insurance staff has ever encountered. We suggest the following in an effort to assist in getting the proper attention concerning all storm related claims.

1. Report all claims at once to the representing agency or the insurer listed on your policy declarations page at once. Record the claim numbers you receive and the phone numbers necessary to reach your assigned adjusters.
2. Compile a detailed list of all damages even those you think may not be covered, make sure the list is discernible and easily accessible to you. Take as many photos as possible of all damages, don't mind the overkill.
3. Mitigate your damages, if water is pouring into your home from a hole in roof, make the necessary repairs to stop the deteriorating situation, this does not mean replacing the roof! Keep allthe damaged items if possible.
4. Attempt to secure contractors to repair or replaced the damaged property. Realize many contractors are soon to be the overbooked, so get on their list as soon as you can. If possible have the contractor present when the adjuster arrives for your appointment, remember the contractor knows the language of contract repair and should represent your repair process better than you.
5. Lastly be patient and kind and remember we Houstonians will recover and come back better and stronger than ever.
